What Are The Benefits of Having a Staycation?

Date:

The roadmap of the UK coming out of lockdown is slowly being unfurled. However, it’s still unknown whether or not we’ll be able to travel abroad. So it’s looking likely that lots of staycations will be happening across the country this summer. There are so many benefits to staying in the UK for a holiday, and we’ll be exploring some of the best ones.

Easy to Organise

A holiday close to home is wonderfully simple to sort out. You don’t have to worry about passports, travel visas, currency conversions or researching the country. Plus, of course, with the UK being such a small island, your journey time will be much quicker too. You don’t have to waste time at the airport or put up with long haul flights. You can just hop on a train and be at your destination in no time. If you fancy a visit to the capital, trains to London can get you there.

More Trips

Delving more into the above point, a UK staycation also allows you to take more trips. As you’re spending less time travelling, you have more time to explore when you get to your destination. Plus, you can get around to lots of different places. You could easily have a month worth of weekend getaways in the UK, rather than a week away in the same spot abroad. Another bonus is that you can be more spontaneous with your staycations as they require much less planning.

Discover the Sights

When you live in the UK, you end up taking it for granted. It’s easy to forget that it has so much to offer. Despite its size, it’s packed with places for you to visit. From its charming countryside and chic cities to its postcard-worthy beaches and majestic mountains. There’s something for everyone, and no matter your style of travelling, you’re bound to find the perfect place for you.

Environment

Finally, it’s not personal benefits that can be gained from a staycation. It helps the environment. Travelling within the UK is much more eco-friendly as it reduces your carbon footprint. A staycation could save a typical family 8.6 hours of travel time and save 95% of their C02 emissions.

Before making any travel plans, be sure to check government guidelines. Your summer may look different this year, but you should still make the most of it in whatever way you can. Do you have any travel plans for this summer?
