4 Essential Tips for Beginners in Fitness

Date:

Have you ever thought about working out, but decided against it because of a busy schedule? Or maybe you desire to work out, but you have no clue where to begin? You’re not alone. Picking up the consistent habit of working out isn’t an easy feat for anybody.

That said, there is no need to give up on trying your hardest. When you get used to working out, everything else comes naturally. There are a lot of things to digest when picking up a workout regimen. It is a layered process, and having some beginning tips on how to start is key. That’s why we are here to give you the four fundamentals for a fitness newbie.

Keep a Steady Pace

When you pick up the pace, you’ll feel the urge to pick up the speed to see faster results. Avoid doing that at all costs. You want to continue working out in increments. That means no rushing headfirst. Not that you should stop challenging yourself. Make sure you are always pushing yourself to do your best.

As your body adjusts to the stress you’re giving it, crank up your workouts. Do not go a year running two miles or doing 25 push-us. Instead, increase your workout by only ten percent a week. This will cause better gains and a lower likelihood of burnout. For example, if your routine was jogging for ten miles every morning, then next week, under the ten percent rule, you’ll be jogging twelve miles. The ten percent rule has more than earned its stripes. It’s a tried-and-true progression method.

Create a Workout Plan

Schedule your workouts, always make appointments with yourself. Be sure to make working out a top priority on your calendar. Making exercise a top focus ensures that you can progress steadily. If you exercise at the same time every single day, you are more likely to create a habit. Being consistent makes remembering to do your workout routine a breeze.

Okay, you’re not a morning person or maybe you are busy with work. Regardless, there is always a way to fit working out into your schedule. You can work out during break, or lunch, between meetings. Any window of free time you get, complete a part of your workout. Because that type of consistency makes habits ingrained. Bring a spare of workout clothes to your job, do a quick noon workout, then get back on the grind.

In addition, you need to set goals for yourself. What do you want out of your workouts? Do you want to build muscle? Or maybe lose some extra pounds? When do you want to see results? These are all questions you need to ask yourself before starting your workout regime. You should always make short-term and long-term goals. Always have a plan for your week. You should write it down in your notes or set reminders on your phone.

Avoid Going to Public Gyms

We know getting a gym membership can be very convenient, but there are many reasons to exercise at home. First off, gym memberships are extremely expensive. The bills add up after a while and it’s usually not worth it. An at-home gym is more cost-efficient as it saves you money.

There is no need for any high-tech equipment when you’re starting, either. Basic workout gear like weightlifting barbells, a mat, jump rope, and some resistance bands will suffice. Of course, you can get a state-of-the-art treadmill and more advanced equipment as you progress. Building an at-home gym is way easier than you think, though.

In addition, gyms are often very intimidating to beginners. It can seem like there are people staring at you, everyone’s further in their fitness journey, the equipment is confusing, and you can find a sense of direction for free. Never settle for a gym membership. It is not worth it. You’ll have the freedom to wear and do whatever you want.

Find a Supportive Workout Community

Try your best to find a workout partner. Make sure that it’s a person on your level and commit to working out together weekly. You should schedule these workouts with your partner to ensure there is accountability. Finding a workout buddy is not only going to make workouts more fun but competitive, too.

An easy way to find community is by joining a race. You should sign up for a triathlon or 5K race. It creates a sense of competition and pushes you to try your hardest. Nobody wants to be that guy who is yards behind the rest of the group. But, don’t get too self-conscious. Trust us; everyone is focusing only on themselves. They probably don’t even notice you.

Are You Ready To Get Into Shape?

These are the four fundamentals of beginning your fitness journey. That doesn’t mean that your journey will be without struggles. Regardless, these tips work as a sturdy foundation. As you change your habits, you’ll notice a healthier and happier life.

The road up ahead is long, but stay strong. The blood, sweat, and tears are worth it in the end. Stay confident and prioritize your health and happiness. After all, the body can only achieve what the mind believes.
