Celebrities You Might Not Know Who’ve Been in Jail

Date:

Many people have heard of the expression, “Celebrities – they’re just like us!” And while the people who crafted this saying likely meant well, there’s no denying that this can sometimes be hard to believe. But the truth is, behind all the glitz and glamour, your favorite singers, actors, and athletes really are just like you.

And sometimes, they make mistakes. When you find out that they’ve had to get out of a jail, you might be a little more willing to believe they aren’t superhumans. In fact, here is a list of some famous people you might not know have gotten in trouble with the law.

4 Celebrities Who Have Had Run-Ins with the Law

1. Tim Allen

Beloved actor Tim Allen is well-known for his roles in Home Improvement, The Santa Clause, Toy Story, and Christmas with the Kranks. But the 67-year old wasn’t always the loveable comedian we now know him to be.

In 1978, Allen was arrested and consequently charged and imprisoned with drug trafficking. Originally, he was facing a life sentence. But thanks to the help of his lawyers, he was able to get the charges reduced and was later released in 1981. Upon his release, he went back to the thing he loved most: comedy. Luckily, Allen has stayed on the big screen and off the streets ever since.

2. Paris Hilton

This famous granddaughter of the creator of the Hilton Hotels is best known for being an early 2000’s “it girl.” She served several seasons on a show titled The Simple Life and, believe it or not, trademarked the phrase “That’s hot.”

But in 2007, after her last season on the show, Paris got into a bit of trouble. She was found guilty of violating her probation (the result of a DUI) and was sentenced to 45 days in prison. Although the time spent in jail was short, it did the trick — Paris stayed out of trouble and continued on to have an incredibly impressive career as a media personality and socialite.

3. Christian Slater

This Hollywood hunk is famous for his roles in Interview with The Vampire, True Romance, Young Guns II, and Windtalkers. And while his intense emotions served him well on the big screen, they got him into some serious trouble in his personal life.

His first run-in with the law was in 1997, when he was convicted for assaulting his then-girlfriend. Then punishment for said crime was 90 days in prison, followed by another 90 days in a rehabilitation center.

Unfortunately, Slater would find himself in trouble yet again in 2005, when he was arrested for harassing women on the streets. Although he wasn’t convicted this time (the charges were dropped), the experience was enough to set him back on the straight and narrow path.

4. Mike Tyson

This athlete-turned-actor is seen as a force with which not to reckon. The heavyweight champion spent many years in the ring proving time and again his talent and strength. Unfortunately, in the 1990s, he ran into a bit of trouble. Tyson was accused of sexually harassing an 18-year-old girl, for which he spent three years in prison. It’s worth noting that although Tyson served his time, he still maintains to this day that he was wrongly accused and charged.

Facing legal charges and potential jail time is stressful, regardless of whether you’re an average Joe or an A-list celebrity. When you find yourself in this situation, the best thing you can do to protect your freedom and your future is to find a reputable criminal defense lawyer to represent your interests.
